1975 Other Ford Models Steering Gear Box

Steering problem
1975 Other Ford Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 129000 miles

I have a 1975 F100. The steering gear box has too much loose motion. I turn the steering column, but the wheels do not move until several degrees of motion. I would like to replace the steering gear box. What is the procedure for replacemen?

there is an adjustment precedure on the screw at teh top or side of the box to take that play out. any front end guy should be able to take care of it. Otherwise you just unbolt the box from it's connections, center the new one then rebolt everything back in. But the adjustment should take care of it. Also check the idler arm as this can cause this as well....
