1970 Other Ford Models what is the recommended timing (deg)

1970 Other Ford Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles
1970 E300 ECONOLINE VAN 302 V8 I NEED TO KNOW THE TIMING SETTING. WHAT DEGREE? ONE MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS 6DEG BTDC THIS DID NOT WORK I'VE PLAYED WITH ADJUSTMENT AND FOUND IT RUNS PRETTY GOOD JUST PAST TDC BUT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE SETTING SHOULD ACTULLY BE . THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

if this still has points the timing is 6 degrees BTDC. But have the vacuum line disconnected. BUT if this has points, very carefully check the breaker plate and vacuum motor for rust and wear at the pivot point. they had a habit of wearing out the breaker plate pivot and the vacuum motor pin/ pinhole. It would effect your driving during acceleration under load or empty.
