Engine Performance problem
1960 Other Ford Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual
Sorry, they don't tell you your "year" category only goes back to 1960 until after you register. Maybe you can help me anyway. 1954 Ford Customline with a later (probably 1956) 292 V8, 3 spd manual w/ elec. overdrive. Bought the car with bad pushrods, so tore it down to bare block, did complete rebuild, it WILL NOT start. Has spark, coil tests ok, compression good, timing chain checked TWICE, aftermarket mallory distributor seems ok, (points, rotor, condenser new). Car was converted to 12 volt some time in past, but It ran (on 7 cyls due to bad pushrod) when I bought it. Fuel pump test ok, plugs get wet, plugs will fire when grounded out of block. I can get a backfire, but will not start. I've checked everything twice. Run out of ideas. anybody got a clue?
