Automatic, shutters when shifting down from 50mph, mechanic thinks it's the converter and added more hydrolic fluid. Probem is when it rains out the car runs aweful, it shudders and has difficulty shifting. Problem goes away when it is dry.

When sitting still, the rpms flucuate between 500-1000, back and forth (D, N, P) but when in R itsits perfectly at 7.

Check for a small vacuum leak or wiggle the wiring harness while it is at idle and see if it changes. Any aftermarket parts on your 'stang?

Thanks, I took a look at the MAS and immiediatly saw the problem. The last time the car was in the shop they left 3 out of 4 of the bolts off of the MAS unit. I pulled the unit out and cleaned it, put it back and presto, no gear trouble, engines running great! Thank you very much. :D
