Had the engine completely die as a tried to accelerate. The service engine light appeared. Taking it to a ford dealership they ran the on board diagnostics and determined the fuel pump was the problem. It also show the engine had tripped an oveheat situation. I never seen the temp gauge reach top dead center.
The fuel pump was replaced. The problem remained. I took it back and they diagnosed a slight missfire on cyl. #3. They moved plug 3 to 1 and vice versa. The plugs installed are oem autolite - exactly what came with the vehicle. They were installed at 69k miles. It now has 118,850 miles, or approximately 49k miles on them. The Ford dealership suspects plugs or the coil stressing an electrical problem.
