Noises problem
1999 Ford Mustang V8 Manual 109000 miles

I have a 99 Mustang GT. We recently replaced the crankshaft and connector bearings. Put everything together and now there is a ticking noise coming from the engine. We noticed after removing valve covers to listen to latch adjusters that the timing on one side didnt seem right. My question is that there is a mark on the camshaft and does that mark need to be on top of knock sensor when piston 1 is positioned at top dead center? It seems to be one tooth off, but we followed the manual on putting the timing chain back on. Could the timing being off cause the noise we are hearing?
