I have started to have problems moving my gearshift out of the park position. When I started to have this problem, my brake light on the dash started to turn on. At first it would turn on every time I went from the stopped position, to accelerating. Now that the gearshift has gotten harder to move, it's just on. Hope you can help!

Have you checked the brake fluid level? this is usually the problem when the light comes on during acceleration. As far as the shifter goes, test the red/light green wire on tehbrake light switch to be sure it is giving good signal to teh shift interlock solenoid, if it is good, then the shift interlock solenoid could be the problem, you would have to gain access to the shifter to watch it work to see if it is the problem or not

I had the same problem not long ago!! Look under your brake pedal, there is a wire housing behind it, check to make sure the wires are good. Mine was really deteriorating and we had to replace the wire connector for the switch didn't cost us anything since the guy at Auto Zone gave it to us for free(would have been a few cents really), since we replaced that my brake lights work fine, my brake light on my dash doesn't come on anymore and I can get out of park without cussing the car for waiting for it to finally engage. I hope this helps. :)
