Electrical problem
1996 Ford Mustang V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual
When my tank is full of gas the needle pegs way past full when the key is turned to on position. I have changed the instrument cluster 3 times and the fuel sending unit is Brand new. I removed the sending unit wires and grunded the hot wire and the guage goes to empty as it should. The ohmage on the sending unit reads fine 15 empty 160 full. I tried grounding the sending unit with no change. The Temp guage goes past High also when key is turned on. I tried replacing the amplifier board on the back of the cluster 3 times also. I ran the tank down to 1/4 and the guage actually moved to 3/4, so it acts as if the guage is reading 1/2 tank off. But the gas/temp guages should not go past Full/High with key turned on! What's left?
