My 95 mustang 3.8L wont start without using starting fluid if it has been sitting for more than a few hours. After starting, it seems to run fine. Although I think the fuel economy has dropped. I replaced the fuel filter and some electrical parts before I realized I could start it with the starting fluid. It used to take overnight before it would fail to start but now it is just a few hours. I think it could be the fuel pressure regulator but I am unemployed and connot afford to just throw parts at it. I need to know how to prove what the problem is before I spend any money. How do I prove whether it is the regulator or maybe the IAC or MAF sensor.?

Check the fuel pressure if it's within specs to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light.
