Transmission problem
1988 Ford Mustang Two Wheel Drive Automatic 68000 miles

After sitting for just short of two years without being driven, installed fresh battery and started easily. After initial drive noticed transmission fluid running out at front of transmission. The car drives normally, changes gears smoothly. After finding the fluid leaking, have not driven again. No leaks of any kind when originally parked.
The engine is the 2.3L 4 cyl.
Question: Is this most likely the seal has hardened and is no longer sealing? If so, how hard to replace?

Thank you for your service.

Hi there,

I would say that the front transmission seal has dried out and shrunk or has picked up and is damaged, you will have to remove the transmission & torque converter, if you want to do this your self I would suggest that you remove the transmission and get a transmission shop to do the seal replacement for you.
