Electrical problem
1986 Ford Mustang V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

ok so i have changed all the spark plug cables,coil,and even the computer ,distributor ,pretty much everthing and i cant get no spark to the spark plugs to start up the car , i know im getting fuel just no fire ,so what can it be ? ive used a soark tester and while it cranks it shows no spark at all

was pickup coil replaced? hall effect sensor? if the hall affect sensor is soft replace it!

how is the ignition control module?

with key on do you have power to ignition coil?

try runnign a 12v wire from the 12v + post on the battery to the ignition coil harness on the + side by splicing it in.

does it run then?

i have same problem..no power to coil. i have replaced coil,computer, and ignition module on distributer. is the ignition the last place to look. i put a jumper in from battery to coil and car started.

since that is the case i would trace the positive wire on the terminal from the coil back to the relay computer ignition switch checking for damage on the wire.

as i would guess check for 12v at every connection for it to narrow down where the problem is.

is there any breakers or anything that can go bad i should look for. i have checked the ignition switch...there is power coming out of it when i turn the key on (on the red and orange wire).

ill look for a diagram dont know if i can find one well enough, trace the wires and see where they go.
