I have a 302 with a 4bbl edelbrock 1406 carb on it. I have to take the air filter off and pour gas into the carb to get it to start. After it starts it runs fine and even after you shut it off, the car starts again. But that initial start just doesnt seem to be getting fuel.

The carb had an electric choke on it which was removed. But even if i manually engage the choke, I still dont get results. It was 60 degrees outside today...it should start.

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs if okay-Set the choke opening an fast idle adjustment. Also check if the accelerator pump is squirting fuel before starting by pulling back the throttle if okay and it continues check the float level and and idle circuit of the carb-
