Sounds like a pat pat pat coming from one of my tires almost like I was getting a flat when I lightly step on the brakes noise goes away. Someone said it could be my cv joint?

Is this happening in the front or rear wheel? If it is in the front wheel it very well could be the CV joint. One other idea is (if you have steel belted radial tires) is that one or more of the steel bands in the tire has broken. Unfortunatly the only way I know to have the tire theory tested is to have a professional look at it.

I would take a serious look at the steel belt in the tire. A friend of mine has a Focus and she had the same type of noise, and it turned out to be one of the steel belts in the tire had broken and thats what was causing the noise.
