I had my cars Air Con recharged the other day (I don’t know if this has caused the problems but seems relevant to mention) A few days later the engine warning light came on and flashed for about 30 seconds. Since then I have had a series of electrical problems with my ford focus. The main problem is misfiring; the car is lacking power and very jerky when below 2000 revs.
Other problems include;
The warning light for when a door is open coming on randomly when driving (no doors are open, and when it comes on, the Speedo goes moves up and down)
The window wipers sometimes won’t work on intermittent.
I called out my breakdown service when it first happened (as I didn’t know if I would be able to get it home) and they checked for error codes and there weren’t any. They suggest problem with the MAP sensor, or some contaminated fuel? If a single sensor was to fault, this could explain the misfire but does it explain the other electrical problems? And if it is contaminated fuel as they suggested, could this cause electrical problems?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I just got my Focus two weeks ago, it is about the same age as yours and has the same mileage. I noticed right away that the speedo sometimes takes a dive and doesnt work for a minute or two then suddenly works again, also the mileage on the display stops working then comes back on for no apparent reason, if anyone can help as to why this is happening it would be appreciated.
