I have a very frustrating car problem at the moment. I am on a tight budget and don't wish to be at the mercy of a mechanic without pinpointing the problem. Intermittently I am getting a loss of power (feels a bit like brakes are locking on ) accompanied with a burning smell. I have checked the tyres when this happens and they don't appear particularly hot. I have had brake calipers checked by a friend with some mechanical knowledge and all looks ok. I have owned the car foe 4 months and this problem has occured around 7 times but has been more frequent over last couple of weeks. I have checked oil,water and fluid levels and all appear ok.I did notice on the last occasion that it was worse and I had 2 other people in the car. If there is anything else you need to know please don't hesitae to ask.
