My modified 1968 ford fairlane has a bored 30/over 460cc engine. It is a new engine block, that has been blue printed and balanced. It has a nice lion purr. The problem is: In order to start it up, I must quickly thump the gas pedal repeatedly to the floor a dozen times, and only when it is to the floor it starts & idles, "But only if I continue to hold (pedal 1/2 way to floor) as I very, very slowly ease off for 1 minute > and it`s purrs fine* This is very loud & noisy, if a cop came by and herd that Hmm "What are you doing >(perhaps a ticket) and cough from all that exhaust etc. Maybe a gas mask too! It looks to be electric fuel injected is a (Holly) carbuator & electric fuel pump in the back of car. U know what advice I would *Greatly Appreciate. Thank you. Richard Toronto, Ontario, Canada Go > Leafs Iwill shoot you a picture after I receive answer as, I have a couple of other peices of advice about car (Chat) > This I bought last august as It is a ex drag racer and comes from Chicago USA Well this spring "Hey If it is good advice about starting situation I `ll be glad to shoot you a few bucks. First see if yo have afuel pressure regulator ifyou are running a carb and have no more thatn 7# of pressure at th carb. It may be low as well so check that. Then if you are going to drive this like anormal car you need to have the choke working. Thats why you are pounding the hell out f the gas pedal to get it to start then it won't run right cause it's probably loaded with fuel. Then because this was a drag car it may have very large jets in the carb also causing it to run like crap when first started.
