Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Ford F350 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
This has a new long block, motor is 460ci gas
I drive for about a mile and it just dies, no coughing or sputtering just stops. It won't start again for 3 to 4 hours, then it runs great for another mile or so.
I changed modulator, fuel filter.
Has spark and fuel I'm guessing because the fuel pressure guage bounces between 20 & 40 psi.
The lingering fumes smell rich after it dies.
If I hold the gas pedal to the floor after it dies it will run rough, it will die when I release the pedal.

when it wont start perform fuel pressure tests and spark tests on all cylinders and write down exactly what you see.

then when it will start perform them again and right down what you see.
get back to me so we can solve it.

Check for a blown fuel pressure regulator, located on the fuel rail, has a vacuum line to the intake, if any fuel is present in the vacuum line, replace regulator. Also have the PCM scanned for any history or current codes, might help in narrowing it down
