What will cause gear shift to lock in park. In order to get out of park. Truck must be turned off, then turn key to on position MUST NOT have foot on brake pedal. Then you can move gear shifter to N position and truck will start and can be put into gear.

Are your brake lights working OK? If not, suspect the brake light switch attached to the brake pedal under the dash. This also sends a signal to the tranny to allow shifting from park to drive etc.I believe that your symptoms point to that switch as the root cause. Also, check all fuses. It's easy with an OHM meter. Just set it to "short" and touch one lead to each fuse tab (with key off). Should get a tone or "no resistance across each fuse. PS: While working on this, make sure your parking brake is set when starting in Neutral :)
