Our F350 Dually truck has recently been dieing while driving. It has died at a stop sign once but restarted immediately. It used to started itself back up while coasting with me not doing anything. However, it no longer does this and I have to pull over and sit for 20 minutes before it will restart. I never did it in the winter or cooler months. We are concerned because this Saturday July 3rd we will be pulling a 5th wheel to CO from MO.

My husband has put on a new coil, plugs & wires, fuel filter. What could be causing this.

Quick help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Tammy

Hi Tammy,

Thank you for the donation.

Problem seems to be electrically related.

When engine could not be started, what is missing? Fuel or sparks causing the non starting?

If it is sparks, I would suggest checking the ignition switch.
Is the Check Engine Light indicating?

The engine does turn over but fails to start. I try about every 5 minutes so I don't wear down the battery. The check engine light does come on. It did it again to me today and this time it started right up but I wasn't driving on the road. I was turning around in a tight parking lot, backing up. It died, I gave it a minute and it restarted. This was on tank #2. I am trying to watch if it has anything to do with which tank I use in case it's a fuel pump or something. When it died for 20 minutes the other day I was on #1.

So everything else in the truck works but the engine, when it dies.

Intermittent failures are never easy to diagnose. You would have to keep monitoring the problem.

Maybe you can try switching to tank #1 and see if the problem surfaces.

Well I was hoping for more of an idea than "keep watching" as that's what we have been doing. And today we are leaving pulling a 5th wheel so we can't switch to tank#1 just to see if it will happen again.

Since you where unable to give me any ideas I don't feel we got anywhere. Please refund my $10.

Thank you,
Tammy

Intermittent problems are never easy to diagnose and when problem occurs you have to be able to start looking for what is missing. Since you are not able to, there is nothing much we can help except to request you to monitor the situation.

I will notify the admin to refund you the money.

Hope the problem is nothing serious and good luck.

Have a nice weekend.
