My Ford Clubwagon 15 passenger van keeps randomly stalling while driving. I suspected a vacuum leak and replaced the fuel pressure valve and also several fuel hoses that clearly had cracks and one had a pretty good hole in it. Traveled to Arizona without a problem. Never stalled once! Now two months later the problem is persisting. Could this be a bad igintion coil. Also, I replaced the battery with a new one. I was jumping a stalled car and the Van would not start with the cables. After I removed the cables the van started. The van has the same original engine with high freeway milage. I am pro maintenance. Please advise. I just discovered your site and look forward to future dialogue.

Hi
Need to know if it is ignition or fuel problem. When it stalls is it sudden like key switched off? Or slow like it is running out of fuel. And does it start back up?

The engine stalls suddenly like the key is switched off.
I did have my mechanic do a pressure test on the fuel pump and it checked out okay. The vehicle only seems to stall after it is driven and sometimes will not restart right away. It is almost as if a ballon popped. Then you have to wait for it to recover.

After about 5 minutes or so it will start up again as if nothing ever happened. The engine idles very smoothly almost like a new car.

With out computer codes it will be next to imposible
for me to diagnose. I guess you checked for codes?
One thing that come to mind on Fords is a failure of the Camshaft Position Sensor
Have your tech run a check on it.
