i just put a alternator in and my belt is loose how do i tighten

Should have an automatic serpentine tensioner on that truck, if the belt is correctly routed, you will need to use a wrench ton the tensioner and move it so it aloows the belt to be installed, then release it, and it will apply the right pressure....or you have the wrong belt...I would need the engine size, to look up the routing diagram! It's on the white label under the hood.
