1986 Ford F250 V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

My truck will start without having to clutch. But when I go to put it in gear it wont go in. It will though shift without the clutch when driving. I went to check the fluid, but I cant find the transmission dipstick. Help me please.

There is no dipstick you dipstick. Its a manual transmission. There should be a plug on the side of the transmission that you have to take off and stick your finger in. If the fluid level is even with the bottom of the hole, then the fluids are fine. If not. You need to add more fluid. Make sure the truck is not running when you do this. You may lose a finger. And consult your owners manual if you have one, or an auto parts store for what kind of transmission fluid to use.
