I replaced the EGR Valve on my 99 Ford 150 P/U 4.6l engine. After replacing the valvwe the check engine light is still on and I still get a code P0401. What else do I need to do?

If you did not clear out the codes then they will stay stored in the computer, clear them out and see if they come back on.

I cleared the code and it came back. I did this twice. At the emissons testing center they told me something about a drive time to allow the computer to recognize the new EGR Valve. If the prob was corrected then shouldn't the code stay clear?

Take the egr off again and clear the port of carbon all the way to the throttle plate. I use a steel coathangar. Reset the light. If it comes on after this replace the egr position sensor.
