After replacing the engine with a new long block re-built and engine working perfectly OK, I notice the clusters OIL pressure on the High side. All other gages look OK.Then after 20 minutes running the oil gage goes down to LOW, Gas gage goes to Empty, Temp gage goes to HOT but Voltage gage always OK.
Check codes and found a P0720 even when engine and Trans. working fine with no trouble.

What do you recomend I do next?

[quote:27cc068174="justanold"]HELLO! I will assume that this started immediately after the eng. swap. i'm thinking body ground problem. let's start with checking the battery to body connection. on the neg. batt. cable you may find a wire leading to the radiator core support..if found..check that is clean and tight. as i recall the core support has to be removed for an eng. swap which can lead to something not reattached during reassembly. test 2 attach a jumper lead from the neg. cable directly to the fender making sure of a good connection. drive it and please get back to me with your results. 8) 8) 8)[/quote:27cc068174]

I Check the ground from the neg. of battery to the body (not going to core support) and check OK but clean and adjust. Then run a cable from the battery to the body (101) Test and found that the oil gage still moving towards the High side but do not reach the RED. After 1/2 driving gages did not went crazy as before but the oil still on the high side.

Thanks

[quote:0563264991="justanold"]HELLO! Great so far! we're on the right path. you say the oil gauge reads high..replace the sender and double check the connection for good solid contact without any grease to cause higher resistance. i think you're almost home dude..hang with me. 8) 8) 8)[/quote:0563264991]

Change sending unit but still shows high oil pressure. After deiving for a while the only needle not accurate is the oil, otherwise everything else is steady.
It might be the cluster?

[quote:33d1cdfda2="justanold"]HELLO! I'm not thinking cluster at all. you can verify actual pressure with a master oil pressure gauge installed at the sender point. high oil pressure can't do any harm that i know of. what you refer to as the oil pressure gauge is actually just an indicator not a gauge. since i didn't do the rebuild i can't know the tolerance specs they used or the type of oil pump used. get back to me here so that all may learn. like somebody once said...IF IT AIN'T BROKE--DON'T FIX IT! 8) 8) 8)[/quote:33d1cdfda2]

I did check with an oil pressure gage an the reading is normal, 40 psi. when idle and about 60 psi at acceleration.

[quote:a2a19a4636="justanold"]HELLO! Good oil pressure! put several hundred miles on it to allow the new parts time to settle in. i'm quite sure now that your gauge reading will come down some with miles. 8) 8) 8)[/quote:a2a19a4636]

Will do that and keep you posted.

Thank you for your advice.
