I changed my oil about 6 weeks ago and realized that I bought the wrong oil weight ( 5W-30 instead of 5W-20). Every since then I have been hearing a rattling noice under my hood and as it continues, I see smoke coming from my exhaust. I had my fuel system cleaned and I changed my oil again with the correct oil weight but the problem still exists but not as bad. Since then, I have noticed black marks from my exhaust in my driveway when I crank the truck up in the morning. I am also experiencing a hesitation in exceleration from time to time while I am driving on the interstate as if there is something blocking my fuel intake.

Which engine do you have. Here is the TSB bullitin on the problem. It is not the oil that you used it is another problem.
TSB number 03-16-4 say's that the romeo built 4.6 ltr with engine build date to 9/17/2003 may exhibit engine ticking noise at all temps at idle. In short it say's the heads are no good and need to be replaced with part numbers 4L3Z-6049-AA and 4L-6049-BA. So call you local Ford dealer and give them your vin number and mention this TSB to them and see if your truck is part of this.

I have the 5.4ltr engine. I don't think that TSB # applies to my truck since I have a 2002 and the engine you are referencing has a build date of 03.

I am refuring up to that build date after that the problem was fixed. Call your dealer and check to be sure your truck is not part of this TSB. It refures to 4.6ltr and 5.4ltr romeo built.
