Ok, this may be confusing.
When driving over 45 MPH(while in overdrive) when i first start going up hill without giving much more gas it will jerk violantly. Does not do it every time but is pretty consistant. I noticed that it happens about the time it should shift out of OD. It feels like you have just pulled tight on a tow cable at 50 MPH.
Other info, whether related or not.
Had a mechanic look at it.... put it on three different computers and can not find a trouble code or history of one. He check plugs, COPS, Vaccum/fuel pressure no issues.
Exhuast is starting to smell like eggs which says CATs or going bad. Would this cause this issue? No apparent loss of power or fuel mileage.
Read in a Ford forum that a problem which sounds like this was being caused by the COPs. But it would seem to me that if the COPs where going bad it wouild be more pronouced and give a trouble code. If it could be the COPs how can you test them to find the trouble maker? at $40 a piece i would prefer not replace all 8 hoping for a solution.
I have run fuel system cleaner in case by chance moisture was in the system. But this does not make ense as a cause should run bad all the time.
There is a noticable vibration while it is idling but nothing to indicate it is misfiring(says the comuters).
When it shifts during acceleration it shakes a little, almost like an out of balance tire would.
I suspect something little like a shift solenoid. But again, do not want to put parts on it just for giggles.
I am about 80% ready to run it into a pole and call it a day.... but I LIKE MY TRUCK!!!
