We bought our truck brand new. Around 30000 miles starter would grind approx every 50 starts. At 50000 finally had Ford replace starter. Flyweel was examined and found to be fine. New starter continued doing the same as the old starter. Took it back to Ford. Looked at flywheel again tooth by tooth, they couldn't get starter to grind and said everything was fine. Starter has continued to grind approx every 50 starts becoming more frequent now at 80000. Recently when the starter would grind there was more of a clashing of metal sound as if something in there was breaking. Once we worked through that now the starter keeps trying to stay engaged once the engine turns over. It makes like a "chirping" sound once the engine turns over(on a non-grinding start) sometimes the sound is not there but most of the time it is. Just wondering what we should try next as we don't want to spend another $400. on a starter and go back down that road. Thanks.
