Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Ford F150 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My F 150 4.6 V-8 will occasionally not idle when starting cold. I noticed this more when it was left in the rain. I saw a service bulletin where the windshield was not seated in those years, causing electrical problems on the firewall. I got a new windshield and it is happening still. Also when I turn the key, all guages spin to the max, then return to normal.

No, never came on. My friend has a 2000 Expedition, 4.6, the windshield change stopped all his problems.

They did have a problem with the window leaking down on to the fuse box below the windshield. The "GEM" which is a generic electronic module is mounted on the rear of the fuse box. What would happen is water would get to it and cause problems. CHeck that. It is a thin black plastic module. See if there is any evidence of water getting to it. Let me know what you find.
