Truck runs fine. Occasionally when ignition is turned on the odometer has dashes, the truck will not start. The engine turns over ok, but wont start. When the ignition is turned on and the mileage appears in the odometer the truck starts find. An thoughts on the problem and the steps to localize the problem. Soneone has suggested the engine control module (computer). Appreciate you efforts. Thanks. John

Sounds more like an anti -theft problem that can be casued by an ignition switch for example. Does the anti-theft light also come on?

Try using a different key for a while and see if that helps. You don't want to have much attached to the key ring on these especially metal objuects or a mobil speed pass as it interefres with the system.

I've heard of the dashes on the gauge...and the problem was a bad wire under the power distibution center, you could try that, that's the big fuse and relay box under the hood...The box is right in front of the master cylinder, also before you take it off, try swapping the PCM power relay for another one.
