I have a 1998 Ford F-150 4.6L-V8 with 218,000. Sometimes when trying to start it, I hear a simi-loud click/pop and it fails to start. The simi-loud click/pop is not a battery problem but more like the spendel on the starter is attempting to engage with the flywheel but the teeth don't match. Sometimes it starts after 1 or 2 clicks and sometimes it starts after 8 or 10 clicks.
History - I recently replaced the starter and both soilenoids because of the same simi-loud click but in this case it would not start at all. After pulling the starter I discovered that the lead on the battery wire to the starter had broken. I soddered (using electrical sodder) a new lead back on and now have this problem. Help!!!
