1997 Ford F150 Alternator?

I turned my bright lights on and everything went dead. The radio,the abs light came on, the brake light came on,the battery light came on,all the guages went down to nothing. Is this an alternator problem or something else?

for sure check the charging system and alternator
check and charge the battery too
