My speedometer quit working and the transmission would not shift properly and sometimes it wouldn't shift at all. I have replaced the speed sensor and I have had the speedometer rebuilt. The speedometer technician said there was a problem with said speedometer and it was repaired. Now its work intermittently; when it works everything is great but then it quits again and the same old problem occurs.

sounds like it may be a damaged VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wiring harness check all connectors, wirings try wiggling and seeing if that changes the performance.

I have replaced the speed sensor and checked the connections into the speedometer with no improvement.

Where do I go next.

in response to your email here is my new suggestion so i can give you some "substance" remove the vss and check the drivegear for wear or other defects first of all, common problem with that year of f150s.

If that is good check the internal drive gear thats inside of the transmission.

if that is good check the PSOM and do a PIN to PIN wiring harness also, check power, if none check fuse first and work way down, also check for ground.

If that checks good then the brain is no more good and will need replacement and a good relearn.
