From the beginning… Previously, when I would crank the truck, it would act as if the choke was stuck (running rich, etc.) and then it would die—but it is fuel injected. I had the codes checked a couple of times, but each time it would run great while it was at the garage and it never produced any codes. Since there were no codes, I looked to the truck’s computer as a likely problem. I removed the old computer and installed a new computer. The first time I started it, I cranked it and just let it run for a few minutes— ran perfect. The second crank was not so good. When I moved the key to the ON position, the fuel pump engaged and would not shut off. When I pressed the gas pedal, the engine would fire up but would run very rich with black smoke coming from the exhaust. I removed the cable from battery and let the truck sit for a day. Today when I started the truck, it sat and idled OK. Then I drove it for a distance of about 8 miles—the engine light came on and stayed on for about the last 3 miles and the truck would not idle during this time. With the engine light on, the transmission did not want to pull—it acted as if it was holding in a higher gear. I was able to shift to 1st and then into drive in order to get back home. Can you help?
