Did you check the fuel pressure regulator?

I havent checked it and how could I check it? I have straight wired the fuel pump and let it run and disconnected the fuel filter to see if the gas was coming through the line and no gas came from line with the pump running. This truck has 2 gas tanks and the front tank doesnt work at all. The rear tank has a new fuel pump and has about ten or eleven gallons of gas in it. Could the pump be wired backwards? The wiring was cut and spliced together by previous owner.

Can you actually hear the pump running? You should just be able to hear it, especially with the truck off and the key on.

It's possible that the pump could be wired backwards, but in my experience it would just short it out. It wouldn't run in reverse. Maybe someone else here at the forums could tell you for sure if that's true or not. Most likely the pump won't run at all if it was wired backwards.

Have you checked for any blockage in the line?

The fuel pressure regulator is located on the rear driver's side of the fuel rail. Pull the vacuum line off the top, and if it smells of gas, then the diagphram inside has ruptured. That's about the only way you can check it without the truck running steadily.
