at idle fine but go to give her gas and she back fires and jerks and sputters, but will take the gas but throght the whole range cuts out and back fires,

I thought fuel overload, maybe computer sees a lean condition? but no black smoke,

does the ford have a throttle control sensor? would it be that?

is there something blocking the breathing,? exhaust?

When was your last tune up? Sounds like either carbon tracking in the cap or a cracked cap.

And yes it does have a Throttle Possion Sensor
