1991 Ford F150 key switch on steering column

when my key cylinder was turning with some difficulty I thought it would be a good idea to spray some wd-40 into it to make it turn a little easier, well it worked...too well. Now it turns with no resistance at all. I must have loosened something inside because it will not shut off. I have to stall the vehicle to shut it off, and pull the battery cable to disconnect the accessories. I can turn it to start, but not shut it off. I've replaced the keycylinder with a new one, but this did not cure the problem. it must be deeper in the steering column
