1989 Ford F150 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

89 ford f150 4wd automatic: my truck wont start and all my electric stuff still works. when i put my key in the ignition and turn it nothing happens except i hear a really low whining noise for a couple of seconds. also when i turn my ignition it feels really loose. any idea on what the problem can be?

Hello,

Does the noise only last for as long as you hold key in start position? If so could be your starter is bad. Bindix not engaging flywheel. You could also have a bad ignition switch or lock cylinder a key.

Sorry for delay in getting back to you. And you probably already got it done. But, no it isn't that difficult to do. It is a little tight getting to the wires on the selenoid.
