1987 F-150 Ford Dual tanks/ 302efi V8 165000

The fuel reservoir between the tanks low pressure pump and the high pressure pump. It is mechanical with 6 ports and is no longer avalliable from Ford. Can I just connect the tank outlet lines to the high pressure pump and the reurn lines together and do away with the reservoir. This reservoir also is the switching mechinisim. Do I need to put one way check valves inline to prevent fuel from just being pumped from one tank to the other or is the high pressure pump enough to pull it through and not loose fuel pressure to the engine?

Ahh the ol' dual fuel tank selector valve.
You would have to use check valves to prevent the pump from filling up the tank your not using. Exact same problem with my truck I jus bypassed the front tank and went right to the fuel filter and engine.

But if you do not use check valves it will overflow one of your tanks and all over the ground.

Thats one of the anonymous problems with the late 80 fords.

Thanks that confirms my thoughts. Does any one know if there is a replacement for the selector reservoir or where to look for fuel filter check valves?The way these small block trucks use fuel you need both tanks.
