Grease splattered around wheel well

1996 5.0 ltr, all wheeldrive explorer grease around passenger side wheel well splattered fairly heavy. Also some on lower control arm. Could it be the wheel bearing and is that hard to fix at home. Does job require any special tools? How much is part to buy?

More likly it's the CV-Joit on that side, the dust boot is torn open. The wheel brakes and rotor must come off!
