Engine Sputters

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer V6 with 100,000 miles.
When I put the vehicle in "park" from drive, reverse, or neutral, the RPM's drop and the engine sputters. I get my oil changed every 3,000-4,000 miles, and had a new battery installed yesterday. I also had my spark plugs replaced at 90,000 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Now how do you expect me to concentrate on the question when you go an do something like that?

Now about my thoughts. Uh. Er

About your question, can you see if there any codes stored in the computer? These are common for MAF sensor problems, but wouldn't necessarily go there just yet. The codes should help open the door.
