I own a 2006 ford explorer. Just 2 days after taking the vehicle out of the dealer, the engine overheated. The minute I noticed the warning light, I turned the engine off. Took the vehicle for service as it was leaking coolant. they got it fixed. What damage could be caused when the engine overheated? does the engine lose power when it overheats? I mean this is a brand new vehicle. that should have never happened but it did.

Thanks

have the coolant system pressure tested if the vehicle overheated it could have cracked a head.. if you didn't overheat the vehicle should be o.k. make sure shop documents their fault on invoice or in some sort of writing
