I am having problems with high temps and the check gauge light coming on.
I have no automotive abilities but have decided to attempt the replacement of the thermostat myself.

Can someone tell me if this is something a neophyte can do easily, or should i take it to a mechanic?

98 ford exp sport 4.0 6 cyl 120,000+ mileage

Thanks

yes it is in the top radiator hose going to the engine remove it after draining radiator. Also might be a good time to put new fluid in also. when hoses are off check for cracks also. when new fluid is put in bleed it to remove air bubbles. the easiest non technical way ot do this is put it up the front end of vehicle up on ramps and let engine run for a few mins until no more air bubbles apear.
