2004 Ford Explorer 104000 miles

I have a 2004 ford explorer and suddenly "ABS" came up on the dash board. Suddenly after the car started to smoke and smell like burned rubber and slight knocking would occur. The breaks felt like at times they also didnt work. My question is could this be a problem with the breaks or something else?

If the ABS light came on, chances are you have a bad sensor at one of the wheels and is actuating the system making it harder to stop. If the ABS light is still on, have the computer scanned to identify where the problem is located. Many parts stores will scan it for free.

Let me know what you find.
