My 2003 Ford Explorer is reving high with no resulting power output. I was on the highway and got to 60mph and engined would rev from 2k RPM to over 4k with no acceleration. What might be causing this problem?

Sounds like a transmission problem. Has the check engine light or any other warning lights appeared on the dash? You could try having the trans serviced to se if there is any obvious debris in the pan or excessive clutch material. Having the PCM scanned may find a trouble code stored by the trans when it was acting up
