My 2001 Ford Explorer, 82,000 miles, V-6, is making a clicking sound when the key is out. When I attempt to turn the car over, I get absolutely nothing, including the clicking sound going away. I am guessing this could be a glitch between the battery, solenoid, and starter...OR something having to do with the battery. Does anyone have any ideas, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

check ignition switch and starter relay. may not be disengaging power to starter or engine. battery is probably dead also.
