I let my car run out of oil. The motor locked up and I found a replacement with 100,000 miles. The motor was put in and now, when the car is slowing down, when it gets around 45 mph, it jerks like it is trying to change gears. Any suggestions? It's also dying when I slow down or am at a stop light or stop sign.

It sounds like you could have more than one problem. Has the check engine light come on? As far as the trans, is it full and the fluid clean? THe downshifting could be a TCC problem or shift solenoid. AS far as the engine, does it feel like the transmission isn't disengaging when stopped or does it just feel like the RPM's are dropping too low. Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Let me know.
