Steering problem
1998 Ford Explorer V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 198xxx miles

Not sure how to explain this as this just came up today on my truck. As I turn either left or right, I can feel something rolling underneath my left foot. I have looked but am unable to really see anything without putting it up on a lift.
Ideas?

You mean rolling like body flex under your foot?there isnt really anything under the left foot to do something like that. This may need to be lifted up so as to visually inspect it.Could be a loose body mount bolt. The AWD has control arms and torsion bars, the older has radius arms that went through bushings which is what this sounds like.Does it make any noise?

well, not sure if there is any noise per se. I can hear a slight noise (non-metallic rubbing maybe?) but its nothing super pronounced. I thought it was odd that something was rubbing as well since there isnt anything there. with the car being AWD, I was wondering about the system itself. Looks like I need it up on a lift after all!
thanks!

Could be a wheel bearing growling too, check that when you have it up in the air

Thanks! I will have it up soon--just hope I can keep driving it and it doesn't leave me stranded :-)
