When the motor heats up in a hot climate area there is a loud howling noise from the air intake. Once I accelerate and cruise it goes away. As soon as I am back in traffic or idling standing still it starts to howl again.

Are you sure it isn't the fan clutch engaging when it gets hot and not an intake issue?

Yes I am sure. I have found it coming from the air intake pipe. I took off the air filter to be sure. I am talking about when the engine is at full temperature and running not just when the fan clutch kicks in. Thanks.

There really isn't anything there that would make a howing other than the actual air being drawn through the intake.
