1996 Ford Explorer reset computer

I was on the way to get my explorer inspected so my check moter lite on I all ways pull cabels off batt so it will pass inspestion but today I took both cabels off tuched them now they say I have 2 drive 75 miles so computer regester why so far maybe 50 will do it first time I tryed this whats the difrence

You need to complete atlest 2 complete drive cycles. This means start vehcile cold and drive steady at 40 mph then go on expressway for ten miles then take car home and let engine completely cool down then do it all over again. If the check engine light comes on before you complete test you will have to fix problem. This system is set up so people dont disconnect battery then go in for inspection. There is nothing you can do to get around it except to get lucky and pass enough readiness tests before the light comes back on.
