Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 107k miles

my explorer sits in the garage a lot. only comes out a couple of times a month to take the dogs to the park or something. the other day, it started and ran a couple of miles before it started sputtering. then it just quit running. some guys nearby tried to jump it back to life, but no luck. the engine starter cranks over and over but the engine itself won't fire up. i thought it might be the fuel filter since i had never changed it before. so i changed the fuel filter today.
still won't start up. suggestions please.

It most likely is one of two things, no fuel or no spark. I need you to try something. See if the engine will start for a few seconds with starting fluid. Let me know what it does.

Please don't feel you are ignorant. That is why we are here. Starting fluid can be purchased at any parts store, Wal Mart, K-Mart...

Once you get it, you spray it into the throttle body. Then try to start the car.

Let me know what you find, don't be afraid to ask any questions, and thank you for using 2carpros.com
